What We Offer

Support to ASC individuals aged 16 and over, either pre-diagnosis, formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed.

We offer Peer Support to individuals to help them understand their autism and access the community.

Support to parents and families of people with ASC.

Peer support is not limited to face to face interactions. Questions and concerns can be sent to the SAAS Facebook inbox and will be answered by the first available member of staff in confidence.

We offer weekly evening social groups in Newcastle, Lichfield and Stafford.

These groups are ASC friendly for autistic individuals to come along. A parent/ carer is welcome to attend alongside if needed.

Attending a group weekly is a great way to build connections and friendships. Having them in a routine will also give structure to the week and offer a judgement free space where fellows can unwind without having to ‘mask’.

Our social chat rooms take place on Facebook messenger and Discord. Both have active conversations on a variety of topics.

Besides interest groups the chatrooms are often used to discuss difficulties we all face. Fellows and SAAS staff can offer advice and coping strategies.

Guidance to workplaces who either have ASC employees, clients or members of the public who could have ASC.

The primary way SAAS offers guidance is through awareness training. This can take place at workplaces or other events on request. It starts with an outline of ASC tailored to the listeners and how it can relate to their interactions. The training then switches to a question-and-answer format so the recipients can direct the discussion.

At various times throughout the year SAAS offer pop up booths across the county at public events. We offer guidance or more information to those interested in learning more about ASC.
